OPENING SPEECH ''BAHNUNG EXHIBITION'' 2021

ANNA KIMMERLE ABOUT ALEXANDER DIK

Alexander is a visionary trapped in the body of a perfectionist. Through insane creativity, ambition and diligence, he not only stands out with his painting, but also as a person.
Alexander is one of those people whose power literally infects you. I’m sure he’ll go far and I’m happy about our long-term cooperation. Over the years I’ve watched Alexanders art evolve and take leaps and bounds. Often in a direction that currently surpasses the zeitgeist.
I would like to thank you very much for the joint projects that we have already been able to realize and for all those that will follow in the future.

ABOUT THE ARTIST BY DR. PETER SCHÜTT

ALEXANDER DIK: AN ARTIST TAKES OFF

Alexander Dik entered the world market of contemporary art with a real bang. Hell, that was my first impression when I met Dik for the first time. What power, what expressiveness, what format! Each picture appears to the viewer as if it had just been completed, as if the paint wasn’t even dry yet.
In German art, in which pathos and exuberance have become rather rare and “measure and middle” are the order of the day, Alexander Dik is an exceptional phenomenon. As a painter, he draws on the full. He takes off without a long lead time. He obviously has the potential to work his way up into the top group of productive and innovative artists in this country.
Alexander Dik is an artist who couldn’t be classified and subordinated to a certain school, fashion or style. He didn’t grow up in a home where the arts were particularly respected. Although he started drawing and painting at an early age, he had to do it in secret. He used his little pocket money to buy paper, pens and brushes in specialty shops. His ancestors were skilled craftsmen, and perhaps he owes his artistic dexterity to them. I found his handshake when he shook hands with me when we first met to be strong, gripping and expressive: not the worst prerequisites for a visual artist.

Alexander Dik’s biography speaks for itself, gives an idea of ??his ingenious traits and refers to an artist who has the ability to constantly reinvent himself. He is Russian German. His ancestors were devout Mennonites who were persecuted because of their faith in Holland and East Friesland and sought salvation by fleeing to Russia. Tsarina Catherine the Great, herself of German origin, offered them the opportunity to settle along the Volga as free farmers. After the Hitler army attacked, the Volga Germans were hastily deported to Kazakhstan and Siberia. After the collapse of the Soviet Union and German reunification, most Germans from Russia took advantage of the opportunity to return to the land of their ancestors as resettlers. So in autumn 1992, at the age of eight, Alexander Dik came to Germany with his parents, siblings and close relatives and ended up in the eastern part of the newly reunified German capital.
